The Veterans Upward Bound Program is funded by the US Department of Education and serves military veterans, including Reservists and National Guards, with at least 180 days of active duty, other-than-dishonorable discharges and 8th grade or higher reading level. This program offers:

• Free evening College Prep and GED classes with continuous admissions from September to August.
• Computer skills training, including use of e-Portfolio to record progress.
• Career advisement and assistance with college admissions.
• Case management, tutoring, mentoring, follow-up and other support services.

The Veterans Upward Bound Program (VUB) is part of the Division of Adult and Continuing Education at LaGuardia Community College. This innovative program is designed to motivate and assist veterans in the development of academic and other requisite skills necessary for acceptance and success in a program of postsecondary education.

The Collaboration Initiative is funded by CUNY. The project

• Coordinates a network of connections between student support programs, the Veterans Affairs Coordinator and the Veterans Services Office.
• Outreaches to student veterans and reservists looking for post active duty training and who may need tutoring, mentoring and other support services.
• Maintains communications with student veterans and offers opportunities for them to interact with each other through e-mail, Blackboard, a Veterans Club, new student orientations and other events.

The Veteran Services Office offers veterans free evening GED and college prep courses; computer classes; tutoring; assistance in applying for the Post 9/11 GI Bill and with the financial aid application, and other support services. For more information visit:
