The Veterans Upward Bound Program is funded by the US Department of Education and serves military veterans, including Reservists and National Guards, with at least 180 days of active duty, other-than-dishonorable discharges and 8th grade or higher reading level. This program offers:
- Free evening College Prep and GED classes with continuous admissions from September to August.
- Computer skills training, including use of e-Portfolio to record progress.
- Career advisement and assistance with college admissions.
- Case management, tutoring, mentoring, follow-up and other support services.
The Veterans Upward Bound Program (VUB) is part of the Division of Adult and Continuing Education at LaGuardia Community College. This innovative program is designed to motivate and assist veterans in the development of academic and other requisite skills necessary for acceptance and success in a program of postsecondary education.
