    TRANSFER INFORMATION FOR CUNY/SUNY

Students must have at least 24 credits to transfer to a 4 year CUNY/SUNY college, unless your SAT or High School record demonstrates high academic achievement. To know if your scores are high enough, check the admissions requirements within the school to which you are applying.

    • You MUST pass all remedial classes before you transfer to a 4 year CUNY or SUNY school.  You must also have gotten a grade of "C" or better in at least one English and one Math college-level three credit class in order to apply to a 4 year CUNY school.
    • If you are required to submit a high school transcript, please see your high school to do so.
    • Both CUNY and SUNY applications are online only.

    CUNY SUNY
The application only allows you to apply to 4 schools.  The application allows you to apply to 4 schools, but you may apply for up to 7.
There is one application fee that will cover 4 CUNY school choices.

No Application Fee - If you are a current CUNY student (taking classes the semester before you intend to enroll, i.e., you are not taking a semester or more off), there is no application fee.
You have to pay an application fee for each SUNY school you apply to on the application. Note: If you are graduating and apply directly to a SUNY 4 year college there is no application fee for up to 4 schools. If you plan to transfer without an Associate’s degree (without graduating), you will be responsible for all application fees. The OTS can provide fee waivers.
You will only be selected by one CUNY school, so RANK the order of schools you wish to attend. Once one CUNY school accepts you, the other schools you listed will not review your application. All the schools you list will review your application. You can be accepted by all the schools you indicated, and then you decide which college to attend.
The Registrar will automatically submit your current transcript (if there are no stops or holds, so please check) to the University Application Processing Center (UAPC) along with your CUNY application. Once you receive your final transcript/grades prior to transferring, and your application has been already sent, go to the registrar, complete a transcript request form, and have then send a final transcript to the CUNY processing center. There is no fee for this. You must go to the Registrar, and complete a transcript request form for each school you are applying to on the application. The transcript will be sent to each school, so please indicate full addresses on the form.

Once you receive your final transcript/grades prior to transferring, and your application has been sent, go to the registrar, complete another transcript request form, and have them send an updated transcript to each SUNY school your applied to.
If you submitted a high school transcript to LaGuardia directly when you first enrolled, you must submit another transcript to UAPC. If you already submitted the HS transcript to UAPC, you don't need to submit another copy. Check the requirements at the particular school(s) to which you wish to apply. You may be required to submit a high school transcript if you have less than 24 credits.
