Opening Sessions for New Students

President Mellow Dear Student:
President Mellow
Dear Student:
Welcome to LaGuardia Community College! You are beginning an exciting journey that will be filled with many kinds of rich learning experiences. As a first step on your journey, we invite you to come join us at an orientation, our Opening Sessions day for new students on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This year our freshman theme is "Creating Change: Identity, Community, and Global Citizenship." As a new first year student, you are asked to read the book you received at registration, Barack Obama’s Dreams From My Father. On Opening Sessions day, you will have the opportunity to discuss the reading with some of the college's faculty and your fellow students. Also, we will have presentations and workshops for you about opportunities at this College, about being a successful student, and more. Opening Sessions will give you a chance to meet faculty and your fellow students over some light refreshments.

Please join us for this important first day of learning. We invite you to come at 9:30 a.m. to the E-Building lobby and plan to stay until approximately 4 p.m. See you on September 9th!

Sincerely,

Gail O. Mellow
President
