Opening Sessions for New Students

Opening Sessions for New Students ( 7 September 2007)

June 2007

President Mellow Dear Student:

Welcome to LaGuardia Community College! You are beginning an exciting journey that will be filled with many kinds of learning experiences. As a first step on your journey, we invite you to come to an Opening Sessions day for new students on Friday, 7 September 2007.

This year's freshman theme is "Education and Global Citizenship". As a new first year student, you are asked to read the book you received at registration, Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.

On Opening Sessions day, you will have the opportunity to discuss the reading when you meet some of the college's faculty. Also, we will have presentations and workshops for you about opportunities at this College, about being a successful student, and more. You will have a chance to meet faculty and your fellow students over some light refreshments.

Please join us for this important first day of learning. We invite you to come at 9:30 am to the E-Building lobby and plan to stay until approximately 3pm. See you on September 7th!

Sincerely,

Dr. Gail O. Mellow
President
