With a Matching Gift from the Selz Foundation,
LaGuardia Foundation Raises $200,000
for Spring Into Action Scholarships.

Donors across all constituency groups rallied to meet the $100,000 Selz Challenge by the June 30 deadline. Combined with a generous matching gift of $100,000 from the Selz Foundation, 58 LaGuardia students with the drive and determination to pursue a degree in higher education will receive FULL tuition Spring Into Action scholarships in the 2011-2012 academic year.

Need

The annual family income of over two-thirds of LaGuardia students is less than $25,000 per year making our relatively low tuition of $3,500 difficult to manage. This cost is nearly double for international and out-of-state students who do not qualify for financial aid.

Your gift to the Spring Into Action Campaign has a huge impact on our students’ lives. Upon graduation, LAGCC students’ family income increases an average of 17%.

 

Goal

Scholarships of $3,500 will provide tuition support for full-time degree-pursuing students in good academic standing who have demonstrated financial need. College and community support will ensure that students receive the support they need.

Scholarship gifts of $3,500 will provide a named scholarship to a select student. However, gifts of all amounts are appreciated and will be pooled to create full-tuition scholarships for deserving students.

Last year's Spring Into Action Campaign raised funds to provide 16 LaGuardia students with full tuition Scholarships.

 

Recognition

Gifts of $3,500 and above will provide a scholarship named according to the donor’s wishes. Donors contributing $250 or more will be invited to participate in the LAGCC Foundation’s annual Donor Recognition Reception in the fall and other events which will include Spring Into Action recipients. All donors will receive updates on the campaign.

Donors making Spring Into Action gifts of $3,500 or more will have an opportunity to name their scholarship(s) and meet their recipient(s).
