The Fraunces Tavern Museum:
Museum of Colonial and Revolutionary New York

On SIELP
2006 first trip students visited The Fraunces Tavern Museum: Museum of Colonial and Revolutionary New York.
On their visit they learned about The American Revolution. The Fraunces Tavern
Museum was built in 1719 for Mr. Stephan Delancey and his family.
Later on in 1762, the home was purchased by Samuel Fraunces, who
converted it and made it very popular and famous. In 1783, President
George Washington gave his farewell to the officers of the Continental
Army in this tavern. In addition, the tavern played a very important
part in the pre-Revolutionary activities. While New York was still the
nation’s first capital, the tavern was rented to the new government.

The Old Bethpage Village Restoration
  On SIELP

The Village was created in 1963, when
Nassau County acquired the Powell
a 165-acre farm
property in the Nassau-Suffolk border. On their visit they learned
how people live in the times of The American Revolution.
Students interview and ask questions to the presenters of the houses in
the village.
