Before Online Registration

If you need to work out a payment plan, apply online to the Academic Management Services through the link on the registration system.

Four digit SIMS numbers are needed to register by Web. The SIMS code is found in the Schedule of Classes or on the Web.

You can then register for the class. Information on pre- and co requisites can be found in the schedule of classes or the college catalog.

Before you can register using the Online Registration System, follow these tips:

  • Obtain advisement. Refer to the College's advisement policy listed in the Schedule of Classes or Catalog.
  • Keep your registration appointment. Registration appointment letters are mailed to all students. Appointments are assigned according to the number of credits earned. A student with less than 30 credits must be advised before an appointment is mailed. If you are registered for a basic skills course in session II, your registration appointment will take place after classes are completed. If you have not received an appointment by November 28, contact the Enrollment Services Center at (718) 482-5242. If you missed your scheduled appointment time, you may still register via phone or web up without late charges.
  • If you plan to pay your bill with Financial Aid, be sure to apply early. Apply online through a link to the Federal Financial Aid site from the Online Registration System. If you need to work out a payment plan, apply online to the Academic Management Services through the link on the registration system
  • Clear all stops listed in your registration letter. To clear a stop, go to the office that issued the stop. Otherwise, you will not be able to register. The stop is listed on the registration appointment letter. You need to go to your advisor if you have a 'C' stop. Check DegreeWorks to locate your advisor.
  • Prepare at least two schedules in case a class is closed. Blank schedule grids can be found in the Schedule of Classes

  • If you register for a course for which you lack the prerequisite, obtain a copy of the Academic Department's Permission Form.  Click here for a copy of this form in PDF format  and take it to the chairperson or designee for a signature. The form must include the four digit SIMS number of the course you want to take. When completed, return it to the Enrollment Services Center in C-107.
