Online Courses LaGuardia offers two types of courses: online and hybrid. Knowing the difference between these two options will help students choose the most ideal option for their learning preference. Online courses are completed fully online. Students can take an online course anywhere they have access to the internet -- across the U.S. and international locations -- at times that are convenient for students' schedules using the Blackboard Learning Management System. Courses are available in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Instructors provide coursework and submission dates throughout the semester to keep students on track.Hybrid CoursesLaGuardia offers 'hybrid' courses that are a mix of online and traditional, face-to-face classroom instruction with online technology. In-person meeting dates, times, locations, and other relevant factors vary from course to course and are made available to students prior to registration. Determining whether a hybrid course is a good fit is important. If students feel they need some face-to-face interaction with their instructors and classmates but do not have the desire to attend a traditional seated classroom, a hybrid course could be a great option. Other reasons students may choose hybrid courses include that hybrids offer the 'best of both worlds,' often satisfying the needs of people with other obligations, transportation challenges, or who just have a curiosity about online courses - all without the commitment of going fully online.
To take an online class, a student must have completed at least one semester at LaGuardia and achieved a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better on all college-level work.
