Antarctic Souls is a series of large format black and white portraits by Scott Sternbach taken at Palmer Station, Antarctica and on the United States Antarctic Program's L.M. Gould Research Vessel. The Gould provides support to Palmer Station and the Scientists who do research at sea and on station. This project is in progress and awaits additional science personnel in mid October 2008. The images are creating a representation of those who dedicate themselves to the efforts to save our planet through research in one of the last pristine frontiers on earth. This being the end of the International Polar Year, a particular effort has been and is being made to use Antarctica as a barometer for the world's environmental "health". This effort and these photographs could not come at more crucial period in our history. Please consider them for publication. Additional photographs and background materials are available upon request.
