Intensive Study in American Sign Language

As a bridge between PDA's continuing education ASL courses and the Interpreter Education Projects (IEP), we offer an Intensive ASL Program for those students who wish to advance their ASL skills. The Program consists of a class as well as a lab component, and is offered jointly with the LaGuardia Academic Division's Human Services Department. The course is for the serious student of ASL who wishes to make rapid progress in the language, and is designed to further develop language skills and to expand multicultural sign vocabulary. Intensive Study in ASL Level 2 classes are offered in the fall and winter semesters, while Levels 3 and 4 classes are offered in the fall and spring semesters only. Each class costs $315.00, including $15.00 registration fee, which must be paid by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discovery) or money order. Acceptance into the course is based on the student's level of proficiency in ASL. All continuing education students will need to be assessed through an intensive screening (non-refundable screening fee is $50.00, which must be paid in advance). Call 718-482-5324 and ask Amanda Polania or e-mail: AmandaP@lagcc.cuny.edu for an ASL screening appointment. A written assessment of the student's ASL proficiency will be provided after the screening.
