Event Invitation

As Chair of the UN @ 60 Organizing Committee I would like to extend an invitation to the entire campus and the community to attend this event. The panel discussion and film screening that comprise UN @ 60: Global Issues in the New Millennium has become possible as the result of dedicated work by all the members of the organizing committee and others that have offered invaluable assistance. This event is the result of bringing together many different threads.

It is the committee's hope that UN @ 60: Global Issues in the New Millennium will help broaden our understanding of international issues that potentially impact our lives. It is also hoped that the event supports notions reported in the President's Task Force on Internationalization, specifically Recommendation #21:

Reach outside the college establishing new relationships with external agencies that can enhance faculty and curriculum development, provide possible student internships and employment opportunities and participate in extra-curricular events.

As such, we see this event as a vehicle to not only introduce LaGuardia's students, staff and faculty to the work of scholars and practitioners outside the college, but also to introduce scholars, practitioners, and the community outside of LaGuardia to our student population and LaGuardia's educational mission.
