Proxy Service
The CUNY Office of Library Services is pleased to offer its Proxy Service for
CUNY Faculty. The proxy service enables faculty to access licensed World Wide
Web resources when connecting to the web from off campus (home or on the road).
It applies only to those resources that have university-wide licensing (e.g.,
Britannica Online, Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe, InfoTrac Searchbank).
In order to qualify for a proxy account, you must be a full-time or adjunct CUNY faculty member currently on the payroll and you need a valid library barcode. If you do not have a library barcode, take your valid CUNY ID to the Library Circulation Desk and you will be given one. In order to receive a proxy account, send an e-mail containing your name, campus address, social security number, and library barcode number to webbh@cunyvm.cuny.edu. You will receive account information within one or two business days. If you need help configuring your web browser to use a CUNY proxy account, go to http://libraries.cuny.edu/lib-prox.htm for further information. Once you have an account, access to the World Wide Web resources currently under subscription can be made through the CUNY Office of Library Service Home Page at http://libraries.cuny.edu under "Licensed Resources." 1999
