Library Staff Professional Accomplishments

Prof. Jane Devine has compiled a bibliography "Digital Libraries, Electronic Journals, Electronic Publication" for the LACUNY Institute 1999 Conference. The bibliography will be distributed at the Conference on May 21, 1999 and will eventually be published on the LACUNY Web Site.

Prof. Francine Egger-Sider has been accepted to Immersion '99, a highly competitive program for current and future instruction librarians sponsored by the Association of College & Research Libraries' Institute for Information Literacy. Immersion '99 will provide instruction librarians with the necessary intellectual tools and practical techniques to implement or in LaGuardia's case enhance the information literacy components already in place. This four and one-half day intensive training and education will take place at Plattsburgh State University of New York, July 23-28, 1999.

Prof. Clementine Lewis was appointed to the Council of Chief Librarians Task Force on Interlibrary Loan. This task force has been charged to examine new models and means of providing resources not available at the CUNY college libraries.

Professor Lewis also attended the Spring membership meeting of the Library Association of the City University of New York (LACUNY) on June 19, 1998 at John Jay College.

She also wrote an article entitled "LACUNY Spring Membership Meeting" in News from CUNY Libraries. September/December 1998: 1-2.

Prof. Ken Riccardi attended a workshop titled "Basic Care and Management of Sound Recordings" held at Lubin House in New York City on February 5, 1999.

He also attended a workshop titled "MARC Essentials" presented by the SUNY/OCLC Network in New York City on March 12, 1999.

He also published an article titled "The General Preservation Survey: The First Step in Safeguarding Your Collection" in Infinity. Fall/Winter 1998.

Prof. Christine Stenstrom published her article, "Betty Parsons," in The Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives (vol.1: 1981-1985) published by Scribner's, 1998.

She also reviewed The Wellspring by Sharon Olds, originally published in Library Journal, was reprinted in Poetry Criticism, vol. 22 (Gale: 1999).

She attended the American Library Association Midwinter Conference in Philadelphia, Jan. 30, 1999.
