Status of Requests

The receipt of materials is not entirely predictable. The average time is I to 2 weeks if the item is available within CUNY. If the item is located outside of CUNY, the average time is 2 to 3 weeks. The Interlibrary Loan staff will notify the patron when the requested item has arrived. Also, the patron will be notified if the item is not available through the Interlibrary Loan service.

Note: The CUNY+Plus status of an item may not be accurate. On many occasions, the status "not checked out" and "check shelf"may not be correct. If the item is missing or lost, the Interlibrary Loan Service will request the item from a lending institution outside CUNY.

Charges

Most books can be obtained at no cost. When the lending institution charges a fee to lend a book or send photocopies of an article, the interlibrary loan patron must pay the fee. The request will not be processed until the patron has been notified and agrees to pay the fee. The lending institutions will determine these fees, not LaGuardia.

The patron is responsible for all charges incurred in the event of loss or damage to an item while it is in his/her possession.

Note: The patron will be notified before any charges are processed for requested items. To expedite requests, the patron should check "yes" on the request form if he or she is willing to pay for an item.
