Scarecrow Press, Inc. has
published Dance on Camera: A Guide to Dance Films and Videos, c1998, edited
by Louise Spain, with a foreword by Jacques d' Amboise. The book, a comprehensive
resource on dance films and videos in current distribution in the United States, also
includes five essays by recognized authorities with insights on dance/film history,
notable artists, archival collections, and the use of dance films and videos in the
curriculum.

annotates and gives the credits for approximately 1,400 films and videos on a full range
of dance from around the world. Supplementary indexes permit the user to search by
dancer, dance company, director, choreographer, or composer. In addition, films are
indexed by series titles, awards, subjects, and by dances excerpted in the film.
Lists of distributors, dance/film resources, and stills from a number of titles, round out
the volume.
