Library Notes Turnitin.com (cont.)(continued from page 7)Library Faculty have become interested in the issue of plagiarism because faculty from several academic departments expressed concern about assigning students research papers. Problems of plagiarism were becoming more frequent because the availability of information at home, in electronic format that could be easily copied and pasted into a student's document proved too tempting. Therefore, Library faculty developed a workshop discussing the issues and we researched plagiarism, focusing on strategies that could work to prevent it. Turnitin.com is ease to use, and we are pleased to announce that we have a two-year commitment from the college to use the service in all academic departments. If you are interested in using the service, please contact me, Scott White, at x5441, or e-mail me at swhite@lagcc.cuny.edu. In order to enjoy the full benefits of the site, all LaGuardia users will need a password and log-on. Look for announcements about coming presentations and workshops. If you are interested in a demo for your department, contact Scott at the above numbers.
