the diversity students experience at CUNY, or from the interest generated by the release of 2000 Census Data. Whatever the reason, it is exciting for me as the Institutional Archivist and a teaching Librarian. At Spring Opening Sessions, a program was presented introducing ideas on how to incorporate the new immigrant experience and the “new” student experience into a documentary history of students' lives at the College.

growing since September 2000, and we hope to continue to add to our collection. Our appeal for papers, plans, records, etc., is extended to all departments.
Call (x5434) or e-mail (mspina@lagcc.cuny.edu), me if you have special needs for archival materials for research, or questions about accessing or depositing records. Before you discard items you are not using, please consult with me. Your notes, files, or photos are part of significant chapters in LaGuardia's history. |

How do I access electronic databases from home?
It's midnight on a Saturday. You can't sleep. You're just itching to finish up that report or paper. There's one more piece of research you need. Well, in the past you would have to go to bed, get up the next morning and go to the library. Now you can have instant access. Go to the CUNY Libraries Homepage and start searching. Here are step-by-step instructions. Follow them carefully, or your fitful experience trying to access these tools will keep you up at nights.
- You must have a valid, registered, LaGuardia Community College ID.
- You must have checked out material from the Library in the last calendar year.
- Type the following Web address into the address/location bar on your browser: http://libraries.cuny.edu.
- Click on the yellow box labeled “Licensed Resources.”
|
- Any database with a green house icon can be accessed from home, or any remote location.
- When you click on a green house, any database that is licensed will require that you enter your 14-digit library barcode, found on the bottom right hand corner of your LaGuardia ID.
- After you hit the LOGIN button, you will see the front page of the chosen database.
- Call x5441 (Scott White), or 5415 (Jane Devine) if you have any questions, and enjoy!!
