book, click on the title, which will open your Web browser. You have 3 options: Browse, Check out, or Download. To preview a book for 15 minutes, choose “Browse.” To check out a title, click on the “Checkout” button. The book will be available to you for 24 hours, at which point it will be returned automatically. (No overdue fees!!). You can also
download a book and access it from an eBook reader provided by netLibrary. This software allows you to view a book even if you are not connected to the Internet. However, you will need to install software on your desktop. Please pay close attention to hardware requirements before you attempt to use netLibrary's eBook reader.

Once you have selected a title, a picture of its cover, along with a toolbar, appears

on the right hand side of your browser. The “Main” and “Search” tabs allow you to search text within the book. The “Table of Contents” tab provides the contents page as it appears in the printed title. You can print pages, but only one at a time.

We hope you enjoy browsing eBooks. Please call us if you have any questions at x5415 (Jane Devine) or x5441 (Scott White).

Questia, the non-library eBook collection

By Prof. Jane Devine

Questia is an eBook collection that will not be found in libraries. The Questia Company has designed its product for student research needs and markets its resource directly to students. The Questia service, in operation only a few months, already offers a collection of 35,000 eBooks, with projections for growth that will take it to 50,000 titles by the end of the year.

Questia's many features should appeal to students as well as to their parents. Along with the online book collection, it offers students

the ability to highlight text, take notes online and cite sources using several major style formats, like MLA and APA. There are no time limits when accessing the program, and the product can be used on most PC workstations that support Web browsing. Students will be able to subscribe to Questia for either a week, month, or year at a time. The cost starts at $9.95 for one week's use. To judge the value of this product for yourself, search its Web site for free and trial offers. Visit Questia at http://www.Questia.com.
