Faculty Activities

Professor Alice Robinson, Adjunct Librarian, had a Letter to the Editor published in Southeast Queens, v. 1, no. 12, August 4, 2000. Her writing was concerned with life lessons for children.

Professor Jane Devine and Professor Louise Fluk, assisted by the entire Library faculty, organized a workshop on information literacy and digital learning for the participants in the Designed for Learning Seminar. The workshop was held in the Library on September 29, 2000. The Designed for Learning Seminar is a year-long professional development effort, funded by a Title V grant, to integrate technology into teaching and learning at LaGuardia.

Professors Clementine Lewis, Ken Peeples and Marie Spina attended the American Library Association Annual Conference that took place in Chicago in early July. Professor Spina is a member of the Acquisitons and Management Committee of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services section of ALA and is helping to prepare a program on Electronic Formats in Acquisitions that will be given in July 200 1. Among her other committee work for ALA, she is involved with the Task Force on Preservation.

Professor Francine Egger-Sider and Professor Marie Spina attended the American College and Research Libraries' New York Chapter Symposium held on November 17, 2000.

Professor Jane Devine has been selected to participate in an ERIC Pilot Project to test ERIC training materials. She was one of only 15 people selected from a pool over 130 applicants from across the country.

Professor Marie Spina has attended two New York State Library conferences, one given

on September 27, 2000, "Discretionary Grant Application Guidelines" and "Linking Systems: Integrated Access Using Z39.50" on November 30, 2000.

Professor Christine Stenstrom will have several articles published in the upcoming edition of Scribner's Encyclopedia of American Lives.
