[ http://www.lagcc.cuny.edu/library ], many offering full-text access to newspaper and journal articles.
The pull-out section of this newsletter provides a subject breakdown for these subscription resources. The subject guide shouod prove helpful in planning their use for slasses and research projects. Links to any of the electronic resources can be establishec from faculty and departmental Web sites to help widen the connectivity. These databases offer print, e-mail and download capabilities.
Another important fact about the electronic collection is that resources have been selected because they provide reliable alternatives to free Web searching. The World Wide Web is a wonderful source of information, but it also requires knowledge of evaluation of sources and recgnition of what makes an authoritative site. These are skills that the inexperienced researcher may not yet have.
Please take advantage of the pull-out section for information on the latest developments. If you have any questions about the collections or individual products or would like a demonstration of any databases, please contact Jane Devine at ext. 5415 for further information.
If you would like to arrange for a class presentation for your students, please contact Louise Fluk at ext. 5476.
