CUNY Digital Library Initiative:
Implications For Users

New technology has changed forever the way libraries do business. The single prevailing current trend in the profession is to "go digital." Consequently, CUNY Libraries - both collectively and individually - have seriously embarked on some aspect of the digital library project.

The CUNY Digital Library Project under the aegis of the CUNY Council of Chief Librarians and the CUNY Office of Library Services was funded by the CUNY Central Administration to (1) enable CUNY Libraries to expand their digital collections; (2) provide remote access to these collections; (3) acquire/install the appropriate higher end integrated library management systems, hardware and

CUNY+Web: The Library's New Digital Catalog

Already in release and scheduled to replace CUNY+Plus, the current catalog, in the near future, CUNY+Web offers some exciting new elements to the research process. CUNY+Web is, as its name implies, an internet based version of the online catalog that has been in use in the CUNY Libraries for the past several years. This web version offers increased searchability and connectivity along with the added ability to link with related web sites.

CUNY+Web's search screen offers not only the traditional author, title, subject and keyword options, but adds to them the choice to "browse" as well.
