Consideration for inclusion are current and retrospective materials in all forms and in subject areas that support the present and future curricular and research needs of the users of the Library Media Resources Center. Manuscript collections are acquired and archival and record groups accessioned in accordance with the policies contained in this document. The Chief Librarian and the Institutional Archivist are responsible for the development of collections in the Archives.

Subject and Language Modifiers

There are no exclusions by language, geography, or chronological period, but materials must be appropriate to collection criteria delineated in this document.

Description of Materials Collected

The Institutional Archives collects materials in all formats and categories. These include (but are not limited to): architectural drawings, artifacts, audio cassettes and tapes, computer tapes, digital media, film, letters, memorandum, manuscripts, monographs, maps, newspapers, newsletters, photographs, reports, slides, sound recordings, and video cassettes. The Institutional Archives collects accessions in the following areas: College Records and Manuscript Collections.

Gifts

Gifts are accepted for adding to the collection only when, in the professional judgement of the Institutional Archivist, they are of historical and research value. Any gift made to the Institutional Archives must not have any requirements that unfairly restrict access. Every private donor has the right to impose reasonable restrictions upon his or her papers to protect confidentiality for a reasonable period of time. Restrictions on access must be for a fixed period of time and agreed upon at the time of the donation. It is the policy of the Institutional Archives to encourage a donor to place minimum access restrictions on his/her papers. Written donation agreements are to be reviewed by the Colleges legal counsel prior to signing.
