that can be used to maximize the promotion of products and services. In this program you will

speaking engagements, choose appropriate sales venues, and practice strategic networking.

Now that you’ve established your design business, how can you set realistic projections for growth? This workshop will show you how to project growth in sales as well as the associated expenses; how to establish realistic assumptions; and how to use Excel spreadsheets to organize your projections for use in your business plan. Prerequisite: familiarity with Excel.
7. Photovoltaics and PV installation
Saturdays: May 17, 31, June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 12, 19. 1:00 - 6:00 pm. (8 sessions) $582 A14CNS001A
Get a comprehensive overview of the history, physics, design, installation and operation of photovoltaic installations.
Participate in 24 hours of classroom lecture/discussion, an 8-hour session to solar site visits, and an 8-hour hands on
lab during which you build a small PV array. This course prepares you to take the NABCEP [North American Board of Certified
Energy Practitioners] Entry Level Exam. Pre-requisite: Math/ Electricity Basics for PV Installers or equivalent.

8. How to Design and Sell Greener Products [6 AIA credits]

Invest a morning this summer to learn how to use “eco-design” strategies to
trigger enhanced and new products that are at once profitable, innovative, sustainable and
able to compete in a global marketplace fast becoming “green”. Learn strategies
for reducing environmental impacts throughout a product’s life cycle, and how to use
effective tools like Life Cycle Assessment. Explore insights into customers’ needs and
learn how to pay off your design innovations with compelling, credible advertising and marketing
that can make products appeal not just to green, but mainstream consumers and business-to-business
customers.

9. Introduction to Sustainable Design. Sustainable Strategies and Rating Systems. [6 AIA credits]
Saturday, May 17 (1 session/6hrs) 9:00 am - 4:00 pm $122.00 A14BUS003A
In this one-day course students will learn how sustainable materials and renewable energy
strategies are integrated into the building design process. Instructors will also review current
green building rating systems.
Part I introduces Sustainable Design Principles and Case Studies and Part II applies the
principles to building designs focusing on renewable energy and recycled materials. Learn the
feasibility and applicability of the current green building rating systems including LEED,
LABs 21 and Greenglobes.
About the Instructors:
The course is led by ARUP consultant Shruti Narayan, and Jamy Bacchus, who has worked on the sustainable design
of the Freedom Tower and NY Jets Stadium in NY York. Both instructors are LEED accredited
engineers and sustainability consultants.

10. Mastering Autodesk Inventor

Learn how to use Autodesk Inventor software to generate 3D models. Through various hands-on assignments, you will create parts and assemblies, create virtual prototypes of products, and perform animation to confirm design intent. You will be required to submit projects that involve producing 3D models used in product design.
