Course Description

Cultural heritage shapes your communication with others, your behavior, perspectives and feelings. This course will introduce you to the dynamics of intercultural communication and will enable you to communicate more effectively in multicultural settings. Through cultural research, field trips and role plays, you will develop the skills needed to look objectively at other cultures. New York City, with a magnitude

of opportunities for interaction with people of various cultural backgrounds, will be your laboratory.You will gain experience identifying dominant cultural patterns and improve the ability to understand cultures other than your own. In education, business, and your personal lives, competence in managing intercultural differences in interpersonal communication is imperative.

Prequisite

ENG 101, HUC 101, SSS100 (Any problems contact department or Professor Regan for clarification.)
