Students are admitted to the program every Fall
trimester, after an application and screening process from the previous
Spring and Summer.
THE ADMISSION PROCESS INVOLVES:
- This PRE-SCREENING APPLICATION (form, essay,
recommendation "letters", and videotape).
$25.00 Application fee due with application. Only selected pre-screening
Applicants will become Candidates for
- ADMISSION SCREENING (on-site reading/written
response and live panel interview). $25.00 Screening
fee due at time of Screening.
- NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS OF ADMISSION SCREENING
(acceptance into program or other recommendations).
The program is seeking candidates who are actively involved
in the Deaf community and can demonstrate fluency in both
ASL and English as well as strong interpersonal skills and an aptitude for learning processed
interpretation. The program does not require prior interpreting
experience or prior study in interpretation. Educational background
(an AA degree, 2 years of college credits or equivalent)
and potential success in an upper division academic environment are key factors.
The program welcomes applications from all qualified
individuals.
