As the average age in the United States becomes progressively older, opportunities
for providing service to older people continue to grow. These opportunities
include providing services to healthy older persons, as well as to those
who need special assistance because of chronic conditions sometimes associated
with aging. Gerontology students intern in senior and community centers,
nursing homes, and special day programs.
