Students who are interested
working with people who are deaf and hearing impaired, learn American Sign
Language and the knowledge and skills to work successfully in the variety
of programs servicing the deaf community. Beginning students are required
to attend Deaf community events and see ASL in action. Internships provide
students opportunities to develop their ASL skills and broaden their knowledge
of the field.
Graduates of this program find jobs in positions such as assistant teacher,
residential counselors, tutors, job coaches, case aides, and after-school activity
leaders. Students can also go on to study to become ASL/English interpreters,
teachers and counselors.
