What is a Common Reading? |
|
|
.
|
This year for the first time all incoming freshmen are being given a “common reading.” The theme of the reading selections is “Personal Narratives and Memoirs.” The goals of having a common reading are to establish a greater sense of community among students and to provide an introduction to intellectual life at the college. We
urge you to read and enjoy the materials. Many of you have already had the
opportunity to discuss the readings at our “Opening Sessions for
Students” in September. Some faculty will be using the book in class.
Also, keep your eyes open for upcoming events relating to the common
readings.
