Irwin Ramirez Leopando is an Instructor in English department, where he currently teaches various writing courses. As a doctoral student at the CUNY Graduate Center, he is completing a dissertation on the theological dimension of Paulo Freire's pedagogy, rhetoric, and educational philosophy. His research interests include composition-rhetoric, critical pedagogy, post-colonialism, cultural studies, liberation theology, and immigrant literature. His teaching narrative "A Moment of Connection" was published in the Journal of the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning in Winter 2004-05. Before coming to LaGuardia, he taught at Hunter College, John Jay College, BMCC, the Gallatin School (NYU), and Stern College (Yeshiva University). Born and raised in the Philippines, he has lived in New York City since 1995. He earned his B.A. in English at Columbia University ('99) and his M. Phil. at the CUNY Graduate Center ('07).
