Marisa Klages is an assistant professor in the English Department. She completed her Ph.D with her dissertation "Rhetorics of Pain and Desire: Four Middle English Mystics" in July 2008. Her research interests include Basic Writing, and Assessment. Along with her colleague and co-author, J. Elizabeth Clark, Marisa most recently published an article in the Journal of Basic Writing "New Worlds of Errors and Expectations: Basic Writers and Digital Assumptions." Marisa is currently serving as the Director of Outcomes Assessment for the College and as the Project Director for Global Skills for College Completion, a national grant funded by the Gates Foundation. You’ll most often find Marisa on campus teaching or in her office meeting with students.
