Dr. Sandra Sellers Hanson is professor and chairperson of the English Department. She holds a B.A. from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa; a Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison; and a Ph. D. from New York University. Her dissertation was a critical analysis of the novels and poetry of Robert Penn Warren. Before coming to LaGuardia Community College, she taught at Valparaiso University in Indiana, Van Nuys Jr. College in California and Wagner College on Staten Island, New York.

Dr. Hanson also serves as co-chair of the CUNY English Discipline Council.
