Susan Naomi Bernstein focuses on teaching and scholarship in composition and rhetoric, with an emphasis on basic writing and post-secondary literacy. In addition, she has taught creative writing for elementary school students in Houston, Texas and for high school students in Cincinnati, Ohio. Professor Bernstein grew up in Illinois and has lived and worked in Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania before moving to New York in 2007.

Professor Bernstein was co-chair of the Conference on Basic Writing (CBW) from 2005-2008. She currently serves on the CBW executive board and co-edits BWe, CBW’s electronic journal for basic writing (http://faculty.tamu-commerce.edu/scarter/BWe2.htm).
