Nancy Berke received her Ph.D. in English from the City University of New York Graduate School. She is the author of Women Poets on the Left (University Press of Florida, 2001). Her scholarly focus is on modern American poetry, women's studies, cultural studies, and politics and literature. Recent articles and reviews have appeared in The Encyclopedia of Literature and Politics, The Times Higher Education Supplement, The Women's Review of Books, and The American Book Review. A chapter she has introduced and edited, "Radical Moderns: American Women Poets on the Left, " is included in the critical anthology Gender in Modernism, (University of Illinois Press, 2007).
