    QUALIFICATIONS

    Doctorate in Elementary Education, Secondary Education or related fields (e.g. Reading Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Social Foundations of Education) is required. Candidates must have at least 3 years of college-level teaching in an urban setting. Preference will be given to a candidate who has experience in teaching public schools, teaching arts in education, field observation, curriculum development and program coordination. Knowledge of ePortfolio, assessment, and student advisement with a working knowledge of transfer is also relevant. Evidence of superior teaching, working knowledge of NCATE standards for teaching preparation programs and a scholarly research agenda are expected.

    The CUNY Early College Initiative builds on a successful partnership between New York City public schools and the colleges within the CUNY system. Currently LaGuardia has two successful partnerships with Middle College High School and International High School. A third Early College partnership began in September 2013 with the opening of Energy Tech High School in Long Island City. The Early College Initiative reports to the Associate Dean in the Division for Academic Affairs and is supported by Central Office administration at CUNY.

    Reporting to the Associate Dean in Academic Affairs, the Early College and Career Liaison will support the work of the Early College programs in both the college and high school campuses as well as the following responsibilities:

    Assist with convening regular school planning meetings and college, school staff and industry partners that focus primarily on the ongoing development of the scope and sequence of the school, the development of college and industry partnership activities and curriculum development. Advise on program policies/procedures and register students, schedule college classes, and meet with academic chairs to discuss course offerings. Work with the high school principal and guide counselors to support student success. Provide for collaborative work with both Middle College and International High Schools. Monitor student's progress and success by ensuring that appropriate collaborative support mechanisms are in place as administrative responsibilities are met. Coordinate all activities related to college course-taking by high school students. Coordinate mentoring programs at the school in partnership with industry liaison Conduct parent outreach as it pertains to the college and career model and goals.

    Under the direction of the Executive Director for Human Resources, the Deputy Director will serve as a senior member of the Human Resources Department. As part of the leadership team, the Deputy Director contributes to the mission and development of the Human Resources Department as a model for professionalcompetency, teamwork, accuracy, efficiency and innovation.  S/he will work closely with the Legal Counsel & Labor Relations Director and the Chief Diversity Officer.

    The Deputy Director is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the work of full time and hourly staff, and coordination of all faculty and staff actions with the Payroll and Budget offices. S/he provides policy recommendations and administration of comprehensive human resources programs,procedures and guidelines consistent with state and federal requirements and sound professional principles and practices.

    NYDesigns, an economic development program of the City University of New York (CUNY) at LaGuardia Community College, catalyzes growth for small businesses and entrepreneurs in the design, fabrication, technology, and maker communities. Our flagship program is our business incubator, which supports early-stage design and technical businesses through private studio space, communal workspace, a fabrication lab, and a network of business experts.

    Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Workforce Development, the Director will lead the conception of the vision for the next phase in NYDesigns' development and the creation of innovative strategies for growth. The Director will be responsible for increasing the awareness of NYDesigns in New York City's entrepreneurial ecosystem, growing its network of partners, and securing ongoing private and public funding through grants and contracts. The mission of the Director will be, to position NYDesigns, as the Incubator at the intersection of design and technology in NYC. The Director will also oversee the implementation of incubation programs; supervise the operations of the NYDesigns FabLab; track and report on the progress of resident companies; and build new initiatives and programs that respond to the evolving needs of entrepreneurs, the tech and design industries, and the university. The ideal candidate will have a strong network in industries relevant to NYDesigns' endeavors (design, architecture, hardware or software development, fabrication, economic development, education, or other related industries) in New York City and will use this network to attract potential program candidates, partners, board members, and funders.

    Reporting to Corporate Outreach/Employer Relations Manager, the Small Business Outreach & Employment Relations Specialist will serve as a liaison between ACE and local and regional employers to develop strong employer and industry relationships, and create an employment and internship pipeline for students in ACE and credit programs. S/he will utilize real-time labor market information tools to research the labor market and identify opportunities for placement activities and curriculum development based on that research.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    Fostering linkages with small businesses in the NYC area; assisting ACE departments, including our Business Services programs, in developing and strengthening industry based partnerships for internships and employment opportunities, in addition to other demands dictated by the changing needs of the College. Cultivating successful relationships with small businesses around all aspects of partnership to include; employment and internship needs, informing curriculum for training programs, providing off site training opportunities for students and participating in strategy meetings. Assisting team of employment specialists with navigating through employment opportunities and referral process with small business partners. Developing and utilizing standard labor market information reports that highlight regional and sector-based employment statistics and trends. Identifying sector-specific small business owners based on labor market information. Utilizing new technologies and social media tools to match small business employers with our qualified job seekers Analyzing labor market information from a variety of sources including specific employer input to make recommendations about training programs in support of ACE's strategic plans and in collaboration with ACE program directors, credit programs, and community and business partners. Administering on-campus recruitment for employment opportunities, initiating and maintaining communication with employer sponsors and scheduling student interviews. Assisting career development staff in developing and improving job readiness protocol and curriculum. Attending and participating in internal and external meetings that lead to the development of new initiatives, helping coordinate activities across ACE programs, expanding ACE's industry partnerships and business supporters, and promoting the College's presence in the community.     Provides professional nursing care and health services to students and staff.  Identifies and treats health disorders and provides instruction in maintenance of good health and disease prevention.

    • Ensures compliance with City, State and Federal laws and regulations campus and university policies, and protocols.

    • Documents and maintains accurate, confidential student and staff medical records and statistics.  Completes documentation related to health status and services (such as immunization records) as required.  Reviews documentation and assures accuracy and completeness.  Answers authorized requests for information.
    • Provides initial emergency care and first aid and/or referral as appropriate.  Responds to on-campus emergencies as per campus policy.
    • Serves as health educator and advocate for students, staff and the community.
    • Tracks and maintains an adequate inventory of medical, pharmaceutical and office supplies.  Stocks supplies and verifies expiration dates.
