Modern Language Lab
The Modern Language Lab provides lab sessions to reinforce classwork and language-tutoring services for day, evening and weekend students. The MLL also houses a small library of textbooks, dictionaries, videos and DVDs that students may use on the premises or arrange to borrow overnight.
What can you do in the Modern Language Lab?
Language Homework: Students without a computer &/or Internet access at home can do their online assignments for their language classes in the lab classroom, Room B207. The room is equipped with computers connected to the Internet, language software, and headsets with microphones. It is also Wi-Fi enabled.
Tutoring: Students can make an appointment or walk-in to B206 for language tutoring. Check the MLL tutoring schedule which is posted on the bulletin board outside B206.
Exemption/Placement Exams: Students who are proficient speakers of a language other than English can earn up to nine (9) credits by taking an exemption/placement exam and passing an intermediate/advanced-level modern language or literature class. These credits are Liberal Arts and/or elective/non-restrictive credits. Also, these credits can be transferred to a four-year college, in which foreign language is often part of the requirements for your degree. See the placement exam page for more information. Please visit B206 or call (718) 482-5466 to make your exam appointment.
