Making Wikis Work for Your Program: Bridging Administration and InstructionPresented at City University of New York Information Technology Conference, 2009
Inspired by work we did in the CTL's Web 2.0 mini-seminar in Spring 2009, staff from the English Language Center used PBWorks to design a departmental administrative wiki and noticed a reduced need for meetings and increased efficiency in communication. We then designed a wiki for our Media Center in an effort to better train and support adjunct faculty in emerging instructional technologies and Web 2.0 trends. This presentation explores the advantages and challenges of wikis as administrative tools and demonstrates how their use can bridge administrative and instructional practices.
