Why an African Heritage Day?
Because Africa is culturally rich its music and art form giving birth to jazz, the blues, rock and the art of Picasso.
Because it has been shrouded in myth, stereotype, and misperceptions for much too long.
Because it is the birthplace of humanity.
Because we are all essentially African.
Because just as children one day grow up and leave their mothers, they need to be reminded that without “ her” there would have been no “them.”
