  • Howard Wach, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs and Director of the LaGuardia Center for Teaching and Learning, joined the LaGuardia staff in August 2013. Howard received a Ph.D. in Comparative History at Brandeis University. He spent 15 years at Bronx Community College prior to joining LaGuardia, first as a faculty member in the Department of History, and then in administrative positions. In 2007 he was appointed Director of Instructional Technology at BCC, where he created faculty development programs and planned technology infrastructure improvements for classrooms. He also directed several grant-funded programs, including a $2.8 million five-year Title V award with which BCC faculty integrated digital technologies into curricula across academic departments and programs. Howard also co-founded BCC’s ePortfolio initiative in 2009 and directed BCC’s participation in LaGuardia’s multi-campus Making Transfer Connections ePortfolio program. In 2011-2012 he served as Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs at BCC, and he spent part of the 2012-2013 academic year working in the CUNY Central Office of Academic Affairs. He has published and presented widely in both history and academic technology venues, and brings to LaGuardia a deep commitment to the value of professional development and the mission of the CUNY community college.

    Bret Eynon, Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning and Director of the Making Connections National Resource Center is Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning at LaGuardia Community College (CUNY) and the Director of the Making Connections National Resource Center. With CUNY's American Social History Project from 1983-2000, Eynon created acclaimed books, films, videos, and CDs, including Who Built America?, Freedom's Unfinished Revolution: An Inquiry Into the Civil War and Reconstruction, and Heaven Will Protect the Working Girl: Immigrant Women and the Uprising of the 30,000. With Georgetown’s Randy Bass he co-led the Visible Knowledge Project, a network of 20 colleges engaged in scholarship of teaching projects that produced the 2009 study, "The Difference that Inquiry Makes: a Collaborative Case Study on Technology and Learning from the Visible Knowledge Project". Based at LaGuardia since 2000, he directs the LaGuardia Center for Teaching and Learning and the Making Connections National Resource Center on Inquiry, Reflection, and Integrative Education, and serves as national faculty member for the Association of American Colleges and Universities. He was recently named the 2010-11 Distinguished Humanities Educator of the Year by the national Community College Humanities Association.
