CSEMS StudentsFunded through a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), LaGuardia Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship Program (CSEMS) started in fall 2004.

Students are selected on the basis of financial need, academic merit, and potential for professional success.

The goals of the project are:

  1. Increase the success of CSEMS students through scholarships and the provision of support services to increase retention and graduation in these disciplines
  2. Facilitate student transfer to senior colleges
    Increase placement of CSEMS students in CSEMS-related jobs
  3. Recruit and retain under-represented groups in CSEMS disciplines

n/a BEING A NSF-CSEMS SCHOLAR

This scholarship is awarded to students majoring in the area of Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (CSEM), and who excel in these areas. To continue to receive a CSEMS award, you are expected to:

  1. Maintain at least a 2.75 GPA
  2. Major in one of the three areas supported by the grant
  3. Meet regularly with your faculty mentor
  4. Participate in the CSEMS Virtual Interest Group (CSEMS - VIG)
  5. Attend meetings organized by the CSEMS Committee
  6. Submit at least one class project into your e-Portfolio0
