GUIDELINES FOR EXEMPTION
CREDIT AND WAIVER
Exemption Credit
(For Day and Extended Day Students)
After successfully completing the required pre-requisite
course CEP121: Fundamentals of Professional Advancement, students
who wish to apply for Exemption credit must meet with their
assigned Co-op Faculty Advisor to discuss their qualifications,
career goals and career experience.
Students who meet the following criteria, will
be given the Pre-Application form for Exemption Credit or
Waiver by their assigned Co-op Faculty Advisor.
In order to apply for Exemption Credit you must….
- Have work experience that is directly related
to your major or career field.
- Have documented proof of eighteen months
or more of continuous work experience, in one place at a
minimum of 35 hours per week work schedule.
- Have taken and passed the required introductory
courses in your major.
- Complete the assigned Exemption Credit paper
in order to demonstrate in writing your ability to apply
certain theoretical concepts to your work experience.
Have the Exemption Credit paper approved by Co-op Faculty
Advisor and Department Chair or Designee.
Waiver for Day Students who have attended primarily in the
extended day sessions.
If you entered the college as a “Day”
student, but have been attending Extended Day classes, you
may be eligible for a waiver for CEP201.
Once you complete CEP121 Fundamentals of Professional Advancement,
see your Co-op Advisor. We will check your registration
records to verify that you have attended at least 80% of
your courses in the extended day sessions. If so, you can
complete the waiver form and be waived from CEP201. No credit
is awarded for a waiver.
Waiver for extensive career related work experience
(for Day Students ONLY)
In order to qualify for ONE waiver, you must...
- Pick up and complete the Internship Waiver
Form from the Co-op Central Office in M204
- Have at least three years of documented additional
career related work experience beyond the 18 months qualifying
time period for the Exemption credit paper.
- Have the Internship Waiver Form approved
by the Department Chair or Designee.
