Your cooperative education internship requirements will depend on your major and sometimes, by whether you entered the College as a day or evening student. Always check your specific program for the most current requirements.

CEP121 Cooperative Education: Fundamentals of Professional
Advancement
3 credits; 3 hours
This introductory Cooperative Education course will help students evaluate career
and educational plans, develop professional literacy, and synthesize connections
between coursework and professional opportunities. Theories of experiential learning
and an overview of career planning will be introduced. Web-based activities, online
reading and writing assignments, and a pre-internship project will culminate in the
development of a professional ePortfolio. This course is a prerequisite for internship
placement.
Pre- or Co requisites: CSE099, ESL099. For students in  CIS majors, CIS100 or 101. For students in Accounting/Business majors, AMM101.


CEP201 Cooperative Education: Full-Time Internship
3 credits; 1 seminar hour; 25-40 internship work hours
This internship provides students with an experience-based learning opportunity to:
explore or confirm career interests and plans; apply classroom learning to real work
situations; and practice and strengthen interpersonal and technical skills. 25-40 hours
per week at the internship site is required during the Co-op cycle. The internship is
accompanied by a concurrent seminar that provides a framework for students to analyze
their internship experience.
Prerequisites: CEP100 or CEP 121 and MAT096
Co-requisite is an internship seminar: CPA041 or CPB041 or CPC041


CEP202 Cooperative Education: Full-Time Internship
3 credits; 1 seminar hour; 25-40 internship work hours
This elective internship provides students with an experience-based learning opportunity
to: explore or confirm career interests and plans; apply classroom learning to real
work situations; and practice and strengthen interpersonal and technical skills. 25-40
hours per week at the internship site is required during the Co-op cycle. The internship
is accompanied by a concurrent seminar that provides a framework for students
to analyze their internship experience.
Prerequisite: CEP201
Co-requisite is an internship seminar: CPA041 or CPB041 or CPC041


CEP151 Cooperative Education: Part-Time Internship
2 credits; 1 seminar hour; 15-20 internship work hours
This internship provides students with an experience-based learning opportunity to:
explore or confirm career interests and plans; apply classroom learning to real work situations; and practice and strengthen interpersonal and technical skills. A minimum of 15-20 hours per week at the internship site is required during the Co-op cycle. A concurrent seminar provides a framework for students to analyze their internship experience.
Prerequisites: CEP100 or CEP 121 and MAT096
Co-requisite is an internship seminar: CPA041 or CPB041 or CPC041.


CEP152 Cooperative Education: Part-Time Internship

2 credits; 1 seminar hour; 15-20 internship work hours
This elective internship provides students with an experience-based learning opportunity
to: explore or confirm career interest and plans; apply classroom leaning to real
work situations; and practice and strengthen interpersonal and technical skills. 15-20
hours per week at the internship site is required during the Co-op cycle. A concurrent
seminar provides a framework for students to analyze their internship experience.
Prerequisite: CEP 201 or CEP151
Co-requisite is an internship seminar: CPA041 or, CPB041 or CPC041


IND 100:  Portfolio Development
1credit; 1 hour
This course will assist students to develop a portfolio that provides a description of life/workplace experiences and learning accomplishments as they relate to the objectives of a college course. As a process for reflective learning and professional development, it will require students to design and create an ePortfolio that contains evidence of, and reflection on, curricular, co-curricular, and personal accomplishments. A request for additional credit through various departments is optional.

Teacher Education Internship Program

Teacher Education Level 1 Internships

 CEP111:  Coop-Ed:  Secondary Education Internship I
2 credits; 2 seminar hours; 80  internship hours
This is an introductory internship experience in a secondary education classroom setting. Students will have the opportunity to: explore the field of secondary education as a profession; integrate classroom theory with fieldwork experience, and apply and strengthen interpersonal, technological, and critical thinking skills while assisting students with diverse needs.  A minimum of eighty hours at the internship site is required.  A concurrent seminar provides a framework for analyzing and evaluating students' experiences.
Co-requisisites:  CPA011 and ELN 120


CEP112:  Coop-Ed:  Childhood Education Internship I

2 credits; 2 seminar hours; 80  internship hours
This is an introductory internship experience in a childhood education setting.  Students will have the opportunity to: explore the field of education as a profession; integrate classroom theory with internship experience; and apply and strengthen interpersonal, technological, and critical thinking skills, while assisting students with diverse needs.  A minimum of eighty hours at the internship site is required.  A concurrent seminar provides a framework for analyzing and evaluating students' experience.

CEP 175:  Coop-Ed:  Bilingual Education Internship I 
2 credits; 2 seminar hours; 80  internship hours
This is an introductory internship experience in a bilingual classroom setting. Students will have the opportunity to: explore the field of education as a profession; integrate classroom theory with fieldwork experience; and apply and strengthen interpersonal, technological, and critical thinking skills, while assisting students with diverse needs. A minimum of eighty hours at the internship site is required. A concurrent seminar provides a framework for analyzing and evaluating students' experience.

CPA011: Reflective Practice in the Teaching Profession I
2 credits; 2 seminar hours; 80  internship hours
This course is designed to introduce the concept of experienced-based learning to students who major in childhood, bilingual and secondary education.  Beginning sessions of this course will focus on self-assessment, career research, and internship preparation.  Students will be placed on an internship in a school setting by the fifth session.  Intermediate and advanced sessions will concentrate on reflective practice and on the presentation of students' first teaching ePortfolios.
Co-requisite:  CEP 111 or CEP112 or CEP175

CEP211:  Coop-Ed:  Secondary Education Internship II
2 credits; 2 seminar hours; 80  internship hours
This is a second-level internship experience in a secondary education classroom setting. Interns will observe and reflect on the field of secondary education as a profession; connect language/ literacy theories and practices; and apply and strengthen core competencies, while assisting secondary education students with diverse needs. A minimum of eighty hours at the internship site is required. A required concurrent seminar provides a framework for analyzing and evaluating interns' experiences.

CPB011:  Reflective Practice in the Teaching Profession II
This course is designed to present experienced-based learning and reflective practice to complement topics in language and literacy courses in childhood, bilingual and secondary education.  Through classroom observation and activities on their internship assignments, students will be able to identify, report, interpret and reflect on issues that have relevance to language and literacy.  A teaching ePortfolio will be designed to meet national standards and to present students’ growth and development.
Co-requisites:  CEP211 or CEP212 or CEP275 and ELE203 or ELE204 depending on major



Engineering  Science Course

CPP024:  Co-op Prep for Engineering Science
This course will enable engineering majors to explore and/or confirm career interests and plans and develop professional literacy in the field of engineering.  Topics include:  self-assessment, career and educational research and planning, strategies to access professional opportunities, contemporary issues and ethics in engineering, and the impact of diversity in the workplace. Students will be involved in web-based activities, group work, and online reading and writing activities to meet course objectives.
