Harry Heinemann

Harry Heinemann

Dr. Harry Heinemann joined LaGuardia prior to its opening in 1970 as Dean of Cooperative Education and was later promoted to Vice President of the Cooperative Education Division, a position he held until his retirement in 1999. He was responsible for developing the college's mandatory cooperative education program and the institution's international initiatives.
Dr. Heinemann was the Vice President of Finance for the Cooperative Education Association from 1984 to 1986.
In 1984 Dr. Heinemann received the Dean Herman Schneider award in recognition of significant and comprehensive contributions for the development of the philosophy and practice of cooperative education over a sustained period of time. In 2009 Dr. Harry Heinemann was selected for induction into the University of Cincinnati's Cooperative Education Hall of Honor

Dr. Heinemann was a Sir John Reed Visiting Fellow at the Victoria University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, where he worked with faculty on various issues emanating from the inclusion of work experiences in the curriculum. He has presented at many conferences throughout the United States and the world and has numerous publications in the field. Dr. Heinemann has a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in Management and Economics, a Masters of Business Administration from the City College of New York and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, also from City College.
