- TAKE A TOUR OF THE SCIENCE LABS with CSTEP
CSTEP, the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program at LaGuardia, is sponsoring a visit to the science labs on Saturday, January 24, 2009. All interested College Now students will be invited to spend a morning at LaGuardia touring the Veterinary Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Biology, Chemistry and Engineering labs. The visit will also include an information session on the programs offered at LaGuardia in the Natural and Applied Sciences.

- The Common Reading, 2008-2009
College Now has also instituted the Common Reading, which mirrors a semi-annual program offered to new freshmen coming to LaGuardia. In 2008-2009, some of our College Now students will also read Ernest Gaines' A Lesson Before Dying. Faculty will link the common reading text to their curricular objectives. These students will be invited to participate in related activities planned at the college.
- The Myself Third Scholarship
Every year, College Now students have the opportunity to apply for the Myself Third Scholarship, a $2,500 award whose purpose is to help students defray the cost of college tuition.
- The Arlene Kahn Scholarship
In 2006, a scholarship fund was established in honor of Arlene Kahn, the founding Director of College Now at LaGuardia Community College. The first awards were granted in May 2007.These awards are granted on a yearly basis.
- Model New York City Council Project
In Fall 2002, CUNY began sponsoring a Model New York City Project to sharpen the public service learning and leadership skills of high school students who were taking College Now courses. This project consists of four training sessions followed by the Conference Weekend during which students simulate a vote on a real issue, such as extending term limits, at the City Council.
