| The Bridge Connection Program LaGuardia College Now has been working with Newcomers High School since 2002. Our ESL program, the Bridge Connection, allows qualified students to enroll in courses that offer high school credit. These courses are developed around a theme and provide opportunities for reading, writing, critical thinking and language development.All courses are designed to encourage students to think of themselves as learners, to develop the inquiry skills of historians, and to begin to prepare for college-level work.Throughout the semester,students have the opportunity to participate in course-related trips and/or performances.Students who enroll have access to all of our on-campus facilities as well as the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities designed to enhance their understanding of academic concepts and content material. In the Fall of 2008, we are offering the following BRIDGE courses at Newcomers:
Newcomers High School is piloting a new Think College Now course enhanced by the work of Urban Word and designed to raise students' awareness of their potential to be college-bound, by focusing on self-exploration through poetry and writing.
