REGULAR 10th GRADE ELECTIVES
BY HIGH SCHOOL

In view of expanding College Now offerings to tenth graders, we began to design and pilot the high school elective course. High school and college faculty collaborate in the design of these themed courses, which are taught by high school faculty with participation by the college faculty member in co-teaching, curriculum development or special activities. ESL ELECTIVES BY HIGH SCHOOL

The Queens High Schools serve large numbers of English-as-a-Second Language students who, until relatively recently, were unable to take advantage of the College Now program. The enrollment of ESL students in our Basic Writing courses, as well as The Welcome Academy and The Bridge Connection models, represent effective approaches toward their involvement. In addition, the design and implementation of a series of high school electives targeted to tenth grade ESL students began in the Spring of 2005. We are offering the following course in the Fall of 2008:
