What is Career Development?

Career development is a life-long process that takes you through several steps: understanding yourself-your interests, strengths, skills and values; seeking career information; decision-making; and planning through a support network. You may repeat these steps several times to adjust to changes in yourself and the world around you. The steps can be done in any order; what matters most is that the knowledge you acquire helps you adjust your career goals at each step.

Video: Listen to this student explain what career development means to her through her use of personal examples and experiences in and outside LaGuardia Community College.
