Summer Enrichment Program

In July and August, the CD Program runs a five-day Enrichment Program for incoming students who are exempt from participating in the First Year Institute. The goal of the program is to help new students bridge the gap between the academic expectations of high school and college. With the help of CD tutors and counselors, students learn about various research models while simultaneously acquiring information about a topic of their choosing.

Students research a variety of subject areas affecting their families and communities, such as the spread of HIV and AIDS, teen pregnancy, abortion, and global warming.

As part of their final project, students prepare a Power Point presentation. Students also learn and practice new strategies for managing stress, studying college-level academic material, and taking better care of their physical and psychological health. Most importantly, in the process of working side-by-side with other CD students, counselors, and tutors incoming students become part of the CD community.
