2010:
In April 2010, College Discovery celebrated the accomplishments of CD students and
alumni with the program "Succeeding at LaGuardia and Beyond." CD students learned
about various scholarships and transfer opportunitities and shared a delicious Greek
meal.
The College Discovery, in collaboration with Testing Services and Financial
Aid, hosted a series of workshops for Fall 2010 applicants. The incoming students
met with CD counselors and learned about the Program's services and the CD Summer
Program. They also learned how to prepare for CUNY placement tests and how to apply
for financial aid.
August - Incoming CD students
engaged in discussing various political and cultural issues in their Summer CD Critical
Thinking course.
2010:
November of 2010 - The
College Discovery Program celebrated the success of CD students on the Dean's
list and inducted new members in the XAE National Honor Society.
September 18 - CD students
and staff celebrated the accomplishments of CD graduates: Wesley Hardin, Fiorella
Alania, Carlos Melgarejo, Shirley Duval
June 11 - 13
- Charlotte Lopez, Cherub Ruiz, and Rachael Wright represented LAGCC College Discovery
Program at the three-day SEEK/CD Leadership Academy Retreat organized by The City
University of New York Office of Special Programs.
Students sharpened their leadership skills by attending workshops on a variety of
fun and important topics such as The Leadership Power of Great Public Speaking,
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Appropriate Dress Attire and Dining Etiquette,
and Running Effective Meetings. The retreat was held at Doral Arrowwood Conference
Center in Rye Brook, NY.
March 19 - On Wednesday, March 19, 2010 at 2:30 pm,
The College Discovery Club will hold elections for the new CD Club officers . Please
come join the CD executive board which includes President, Vice-President, Secretary,
Treasurer, and SAC Representative. The elections will take place in B-236 conference
room. All CD students are eligible to run for these positions. For more information,

2010:
July 3 & October 24 - The CD Program inducted ten
CD students into the Epsilon Zeta chapter of the Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor
Society. The induction ceremony was followed by a celebratory luncheon.
