The CareerZone website brings together multiple sources of career and labor market information to make career exploration and planning for the future a little easier. General Job Search Sites -“America’s Job Bank” - http://www.jobsearch.org Highly recommended! The search is easy, yet detailed, and is a wonderful “beginner site”. A stockpile of over 1,000,000 jobs. The job search can be narrowed to country, region, and occupation. Additionally, jobs range in education from high school level to doctoral level. “JobAdsUSA.com” - http://www.jobadsusa.com The job searching is standard, and the job search can be specified by industry, region, and salary range, and title. The great plus of this site is the online resume writer. Jobseekers can create their resume online, and return to edit their resume as needed. “The New York Times Job Market” - http://jobmarket.nytimes.com/pagers/jobs Search jobs by category, location or in an advanced search. Employers post jobs to find quality employers. “Snagajob.com-The leading part-time and hourly job site!” - http://www.snagajob.com Featured employers include friendly’s, the Home Depot, Check E. Cheese’s etc. Find a great part-time and full-time hourly jobs anywhere in U.S “Monster – Search Jobs” - http://jobsearch.monster.com The job searching is standard. Also is specific by industry, region and salary range. Good Site “Jobs.com. – Global Search, Local Careers” - http://www.jobs.com Very specific about the job categories. Easy way to search for jobs. Jobs are listed by state and by industry. “Yahoo Hot Jobs- Thousands of Jobs, Find the Right One” - http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/ Good site. Can submit their resume online. However, in when submitting a resume online, it is recommended that the client have an e-mail address they check regularly. “The Federal Government’s Official Site” - http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/ You have to be very specific about the job you want. But it gives you a lot of detail about the job. Easy way to search for jobs. Federal jobs are good jobs with great benefits, however some type of training and/or college may be needed. “DiversityInc Careers” - http://www.diversityinc.com/public/department33.cfm This website features companies from various industries. ESPN, Starbucks, Ford and Time Warner cable are some employers. Potential employees can submit their resume online. Jobs can be specified by industry, region, and job title. “The New York State Department of Civil Service” - http://www.cs.state.ny.us/jobs.htm A website that gives job openings for civil service jobs across the state of New York. Various types of information are given, from training programs, to promotion requirements, to job openings. However, when applying for jobs, the client should many need to have some type of degree/college experience or previous training. “NewYorkCityEmployment.Com” - http://www.nycemployment.com/advpge.aspThis site is small, and does not have a large pool of jobs. However, it is very user friendly and shows jobs specifically for New York. This is a good site for those who are new to web browsing. “EmploymentGuide.Com…real jobs, real people” - http://www.employmentguide.com This site is filled with jobs. You can search by employer or by position. The drawback is that a lot of the jobs are no in the New York area. The site bills itself as “real jobs for real people”, and tries to live up to that billing by offering a lot of entry level or jobs that require less than masters or bachelor’s education. People who wish to use this site may need to fill out a questionnaire of general information before browsing for jobs. “Careerbuilder.Com” - http://www.careerbuilder.com One of the larger job sites. If a potential employee has experience and/or education in a business, clerical, or educational field, then this is an excellent website. However, for potential employees looking for jobs in the industrial or manufacturing sections, the options may be limited. “Smart hunts…your next job” - http://www.smarthunt.com Jobs are separated into freelance and contract, part-time and full-time. This site is fairly comprehensive. This site may be of interest to the jobseeker that is looking for part-time work (or possibly freelance work). Jobseekers are encouraged to look at the resumes others have posted on the site to get an idea of what employers are looking for. “Jobveritse…the world’s largest free job and resume database” - http://www.jobvertise.com A very large site. However, the ranges of jobs are very narrow. Most jobs require some type of technical proficiency in a computer related field, or managerial experience. “VIP Yacht Cruises, Inc.” - http://www.vipyachtcruises.com/employment.shtm Seeking travel? Wish to work somewhere exciting? This unique website offers the jobseeker interesting positions on cruise boats from cooks to deckhands to maitre’ds. “United States Department of Health and Human Services” - http://www.hhs.gov/careers/ Good site for those interested in health or human service related jobs. This site provides jobs for all of United States, but the search can be narrowed to the New York City area. “JobOpenings.net” - http://www.new_york.jobopenings.net/new_york/jobs.htm Good site. Lists jobs by employer. Jobseekers who wish to work for a particular company in the New York area may find this site useful. “Ziply…New York Jobs” - http://www.newyork-ny.ziply.com/jobs/ This is a very good site for those seeking a wide range of jobs in the New York area. A good thing about this site is that a large number (if not most) of the employers prefer the jobseeker to call and/or set up an appointment, instead of sending a resume electronically. “New York State Department of Labor” - http://www.labor.state.ny.us/labor_market/LMI_job_seekers/job_search.html Starting point for jobs in New York State. Of interest is the resume maker and cover letter maker that the site offers. "myGulliver.com" - http://www.mygulliver.com/ myGulliver.com is an online job board specialized to meet the needs of hospitality professionals. We list hotel, restaurant job openings worldwide and our services are free to candidates. Housekeeping - “Top hotel jobs, resort and cruise jobs worldwide” - http://www.catererglobal.com This site shows 1404 hospitality jobs and all around the world. “Cleaning Services NY” - http://www.house-cleaning-services.com/house_cleaning_NY.htm Gives a listing of cleaning sites in the New York area. Job seekers can use this site to find cleaning services that are hiring. This site also gives contact information for housekeeping companies. “NY Housecleaning.com” - http://www.nyhousecleaning.com This is a specific business site. However, jobseekers can contact this business in search of employment. “Residential and Commercial Cleaning Service” - http://www.maidinnewyork.com Same as above, however there are more telephone numbers available in which to contact employers. “Avalon de Paris Home Cleaning Services” - http://www.avalondeparis.com/ Same as above however there are more telephone numbers available in which to contact employers. Foodservice - “Foodservice.com…the World’s Largest Food Serving Community” - http://www.foodservice.com This site is a one-stop-shop for all things food! Jobseekers can look at job postings from any numbers of food chains from Outback Steakhouse to McDonald’s to the Cheesecake Factory. This site boasts other features such as a “Virtual Food Show”. Health Services - “Absolutely Health Care and Health Jobs USA” - http://www.healthjobsusa.com This site says that, “We are the largest specialized health care / medical job site on the Internet, with over 900 clients and over 100,000 posted jobs. Our purpose is to put healthcare / medical job seekers in touch with facilities, staffing companies, travel companies, and recruiters to facilitate their job search.” “Public Health Association of New York” - http://www.phanyc.org/ This is a site that brings together various sections of the health care community – from physicians to nurses to educators. Jobseekers are able to create connections with the health care community as well as apply for jobs that are posted on the website.
