No champagne bottle was smashed against the bow, but a cruise into New York Harbor was an exceptional way for a group of 2010 LaGuardia graduates to mark the end of one journey and the beginning of their next. On board the tri-level
Spirit of New York Cruise yacht, new graduates and their guests celebrated their accomplishments with great food, dancing and spectacular views of New York City. Faculty and staff also partook in the festivities to wish our graduates well.

Having already attended orientation at Queens College, where he will study English and philosophy, new graduate James Lynch commented that it was going to be difficult for him to feel connected to a new school. “I really learned and changed so much at LaGuardia. It has given me everything,” he said.

The weather was perfect, and the image of the Statue of Liberty lit up at night with a dramatic, full yellow moon in the background added to the special memories our new graduates will take with them as they move forward. A portion of the proceeds from cruise ticket sales are the Class of 2010's gift to the LAGCC Foundation and will be used to provide scholarships and other essential resources for deserving LaGuardia students during the 2010-2011 academic year. The entire College community wishes the best to all LaGuardia’s 2010 graduates.
