GRADES/POLICIES

This section contains information related to grades, basic skills courses and testing.  The GRADES tab lists all current grading symbols included in the calculation of Grade Point Average (GPA).  The BASIC SKILLS tab offers visual depictions of how students logically progress from one level to the next within reading, ESL/writing, and math remediation.  Though basic skills courses are all non-credit bearing, there are several credit bearing courses that students are permitted to take contemporaneously, allowing them to begin making progress towards degree completion.  These courses are listed in the Basic Skills Companion Course List.   The TESTING tab provides information on the various tests that are administered in the testing facilities (CUNY Assessment Tests to new students for placement and TAP eligibility, re-tests/exit exams in the areas of remediation, and the CUNY Proficiency Examination).  Procedures for taking the exams are included, as well as a Testing Placement Sheet, which lists all the scaled scores and their corresponding placement codes.
